Keep a Home Finder’s Notebook

First-time buyers often suggest this. After a day (or days) of visiting property after property it’s not uncommon to get lost in a daze. Two tips: Watch for memory points for each property: “The one with the red door.” The home with that big tree.” “The place with the baby grand piano in the kitchen nook.” Second, keep a notebook. Loose leaf is best. Staple in profile sheets, flyers, business cards. Consider a digital camera yourself to take exteriors (no photos inside, please) and print pictures. Some first-time buyers include property checklists, area maps, nearby comparable sales to help remember properties and develop a sense of price and value. You’ll be glad you did. A home finder’s notebook is a great tool to keep homes straight in mind – not to mention a wonderful memory years from now.
